mdlbear: (hacker glider)

So, I finally got around to pulling the hot client machine, Dantooine, out of the bedroom and putting it back in the office. It's an Athlon 2200 with half a gig of RAM, meaning it's about twice as fast in absolute clock speed (maybe three or four times as fast effectively) as the machine I'd been using (an 800MHz C3), with twice as much RAM. Much better. One forgets.

I originally had Harmony (the 800MHz Mini-ITX box) in the bedroom for recording, but did the swap when I was having some problems that I thought a faster processor would help with. It didn't, but I'm lazy. Interestingly enough Dantooine is quieter; it's in an Antec Sonata case and Harmony's CPU fan is dying.

So the next steps are a simple Debian Sarge install on Dantooine to bring it into sync with my normal configuration, a clean DeMuDi install on Harmony, and silencing that damned CPU fan.
