mdlbear: portrait of me holding a guitar, by Kelly Freas (freas)

I was looking over my battered old copy of The Folksinger's Guitar Guide by Jerry Silverman, and thinking that somebody ought to write a Filksinger's Guitar Guide. Somebody please hit me over the head with a clue stick and make me finish my album first, OK?

Culinary: BOA (bacon, onion and avocado) sandwitches The [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat introduced me. It's the kind of thing where both members of a couple have to have one.
Literary: Bored of the Rings I really love LoTR. That doesn't keep me from liking the parody, too.
Audiovisual: Barbarella Eye candy, B-grade SciFi, funky special effects... what's not to like?
Musical: "Desolation Row" by Bob Dylan. I like Dylan. And I'll sing "Desolation Row" or "Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts" at the drop of a hat. What, you thought I was going to mention my own song here? That would be crass commercialism, even if the title is "Guilty Pleasures". Why should I feel guilty about commercialism?

Was late getting in to work today, delayed by an echocardiogram appointment. Results available Monday.

Got my new computer configured. Sound came right up, which was good. Installed the SMP kernel, and the next time I ran gkrellm it had two CPU graphs. (Showing 0% pretty-much straight across, of course.)

Only a couple of minor anomalies: apparently the resources loaded by xrdb aren't getting seen by any of the apps started after it in my .xinitrc file. I'm guessing it may be some kind of SMP timing glitch, since I've been using the same .xinitrc for years, and it works on all the other Debian Etch systems I've run it on.

There are still a few disk partitions to copy over, and I need to finish reconfiguring the old one as a compile server (several coworkers are making use of its large collection of embedded toolchains). And I need PS2-to-USB adapters for the trackball and keyboard. But it's basically working.
