track(?)

You wouldn't think it would take me three hours to record a simple four-and-a-half-minute guitar track for "Little Computing Machine", would you? It did. I might be able to put together one useable take from the two I kept. On the other hand, maybe not.

A lot of time was wasted spent on figuring out how to insert a count-in, since the original didn't have one. It turned out to be trickier than I expected, but worthwhile. I also wasted some time trying to record another clean scratch take with a count-in, but with complete lack of success. You'd think I'd be pretty good at a song I wrote 23 years ago, wouldn't you? Wrong!

Spent some time going over "Silk and Steel" and "Guilty Pleasures" in Audacity. The basic recording is finished on those; the remaining part is mixing. That is not something I'm particularly good at yet. And I may still decide some of those tracks are unfixable.

Many of the guitar tracks are problematic -- they tend to be bass-heavy, especially some of the earlier ones. At some point I learned to put the mic slightly below the strings and pointing slightly up, which puts the lowest strings farther away and improves the balance considerably. The question is whether it's better to eq the earlier tracks into submission, or just re-record them.
