Spent some time going over "Silk and Steel" and "Guilty Pleasures" in Audacity. The basic recording is finished on those; the remaining part is mixing. That is not something I'm particularly good at yet. And I may still decide some of those tracks are unfixable.

Many of the guitar tracks are problematic -- they tend to be bass-heavy, especially some of the earlier ones. At some point I learned to put the mic slightly below the strings and pointing slightly up, which puts the lowest strings farther away and improves the balance considerably. The question is whether it's better to eq the earlier tracks into submission, or just re-record them.

You're probably going to hate me for suggesting this, but isolation headphones wrapped over the end of the guitar work REALLY well as a stereo microphone. No air noise, no ambient noise, just the reverbration of the wood as stimulated by the strings.
