Short version: it wasn't a "fake bomb" at all, it was a wearable tech jacket on the body of a friendly young technologist who would have been *way* better off wearing something else to the airport today. Authorities in Massachussetts who've been accused of overreacting to tech art misunderstandings before -- remember the Mooninite Menace? -- are throwing the book at her.

... She wasn't even getting on a plane -- just picking up a friend.

Rainy morning

It's been raining all morning, which settled the question of whether I'd take my walk by the creek or down to the rose garden: no, I won't. If it doesn't clear up I'll go find a suitable shopping mall.

I did go to the post office to mail a CD order, followed by Fry's and the bank. Fry's had a copy of the recently-published, definitive edition of The Annotated Alice, so of course I grabbed it along with the 2GB SD card, SD-to-USB adapter, and powered USB-2 hub that I'd gone in for.

(update: not all that recent -- the copyright date is 2000. But the two previous ones were 1960 and 1990. It may have been recently re-published, though.)

Walkies

After lunch the weather finally cleared; the sky was still dark with clouds, but I got my walk. I went around the Rose Garden -- no sense pushing my luck; there are usually enough people passing by that somebody would have noticed if I got into trouble. There was a wedding party there with no guests -- I imagine it was a photo shoot -- and a couple of new blossoms on the Royal Amethyst.

My weight continues to hover within a pound or two of 190. Grumble. Need more walkies and less food, I suppose. I was pleased to see that my blood pressure was down to a healthy level on Thursday; since I haven't changed either my meds or my diet I can only assume it's because I haven't taken any stimulant-based decongestants for the last couple of days.
