This is going to be a totally disjointed set of notes. It's been a long and tiring day.
Congrats to the Pegasus Nominees! I'm not one of them this year, which is not really surprising considering who is. It's a little disappointing that "Ship of Stone" didn't make it onto the ballot, but there's time...
Welcome to our newest filk songwriter, super_star_girl, AKA
the Younger Daughter. She posted a couple
of songs yesterday. I will note with pride that she's writing
considerably better than I was at that age.
Spent some time this evening fetching her a guitar. It turned out to be the one item stored under the bed that was tall enough to get stuck there when I lowered it.
The flower_cat's big green motorized recliner, after several
weeks of making funny noises, finally died. In a fully-reclined position,
with her in it. She panicked a bit when I started moving something into
position to prop up the leg lift so she could slide off; I had to back off
and explain in detail what I intended to do and why. She had apparently
thought that I was doing it to block her escape rather than keeping the
chair from tipping over and landing heavily on top of her as she tried to
slide off.
Spent some time this morning and evening re-shelving CDs, and installing a new shelf. I need to go to a hardware store tomorrow for angle brackets so I can install more shelves. Yeah, I know: if you have enough shelves, you don't have enough filk. Some of those stacks are old, and some of the CDs that are on the shelves are in the wrong place. Getting there. It's painful, because I have to work close to the floor and old bears don't bend very well these days.
I have also gotten back into the swing of ripping CDs.
A long and mostly unproductive day shopping, though I did manage to get coffee (Barefoot) and B12 (Long's).
About a 3-mile walk up Los Gatos Creek this morning, using the running shoes and the Ace ankle brace, which is basically a light, toeless sock sewed onto the middle of a strip of elastic wrap with velcro at each end. Worked pretty well, though my feet were feeling a little sore at the end. Spent the rest of the day in the slip-ons using the elastic/velcro strip from the Futuro brace.
I can haz post nao?
At the museum yesterday we spotted a man on a nice little folding scooter: almost certainly this one. Either folds up or comes apart; the combination of small wheels, plastic seat, and small battery means that it's probably limited to light-duty, mainly indoor use, but it looks especially convenient for travel. A bit pricy, though.
From my Mom, a link to pomegranate.com, an art publishing house.
From gmcdavid, this post linking
to an obituary for the last surviving member of Nicolas Bourbaki. I've
read a couple of their books - crystal clear even with my rather limited
high school French. Sad: another Great Old One gone.
As long as I'm clearing my tabs, here's a link to an article on organizing a web
site with git
