A lunchtime shopping expedition got me a good walk. And there was a tasty reception at work for some visiting honchos from other parts of the company (combined with demos and talking about our stuff, of course). And lots and lots of tasty hot links up there above the cut.

On the other hand, Colleen was justifably angry at me for not telling her sooner about a couple of work-related schedule changes, and after she told me to go to bed around 11pm I discovered that there was still a lot to do, and had myself a bit of a meltdown. Again, who knows what? Back pain, frustration, discouragement, resentment, guilt, fear maybe. Not fun. Snuggle worked, and I was able to calm down pretty quickly and tell her so.

Good on the whole, I think, but just barely.

Have to work on my communication skills.

Another "ok" day; I'll take that if it's all I can get. Our group's presentation at work went well, and included a free lunch. The YD made dinner. My prostate symptoms are, annoyingly, back again. It balances, maybe. No walk :P.

Some good links, under the cut as usual.

... which may explain why I've been reacting a bit weirdly to things recently. Or not.

Today I am thankful for...

  • Love.
  • Colleen, of course
  • The Hartmann bag
  • A con/vacation with fewer mishaps than expected.
  • A friend who gives me honest criticism when I need it.
  • Interesting times at work. Really.
  • git and ssh

The Hartmann bag is a rather ugly tan cloth bag with leather trim, measuring 10x11x22 inches. The top has a zipper on three sides, for easy access, and has snaps in the two loose corners. There's an outside flap pocket with a snap on one long side, and a rectangle of fabric where a slash has been repaired on the other. It's the same fabric as the bag, so it must have been done a long time ago.

My parents bought it to take their excess purchases home from a trip to Japan, sometime in the early 1960s.

It's rugged enough to be checked through, (just barely) small enough to use as a carry-on, and folds down flat if it isn't needed on one leg of a trip.

It's been well-used and well-loved, by two generations of my family over nearly half a century.
