Despite being depressed and anxious most of the time (a combination of the blatant anti-trans Nazism in the US [see Monday] and my ongoing inability to get things done), I think it's actually been a more productive week than usual (which isn't saying much). If I'd started being this productive a year ago I'd have the Whidbey Island house cleaned up and ready to sell by now. As it is, ... At least N has arranged for E' and her mother to come up next weekend and clean/help organize.

It would help if I could figure out a way to work with bi-phasic sleep rather than hoping to prevent it or, um, losing sleep over it. It's not clear whether cats help me get to sleep; it's pretty clear that they don't always help me stay asleep. But I wouldn't want to be without them.

I now have two of my Netgear WNDR4300 routers down at RS -- one is running a rather old version of DD-WRT, and the other is running OpenWrt. Both could stand to be upgraded; it looks like OpenWrt is more current, so I may put the latest version of that on both of them. I brought the DD-WRT one down a couple of weeks ago to replace the little TP-Link access point I'd bought for the Lair, and brought up a powerline ethernet box to replace it as the link to the box room. Then yesterday swapped the TP-Link access point with the other Netgear from the box room. (Does that make sense?)

I seem to have a slight surplus of computers at the moment. For sufficiently large values of "slight".

I had a bit of a scare last week when I received a couple of bills from UW Medical that I had expected to have been covered by my Medigap insurance; I was worried that I might have done something stupid and not renewed it. But no, it auto-renewed as usual; I was just looking at the deductible. I worry because this is the US, with its barely-functional health doesn't-care-at-all system.

Quote of the week: "Scholarly societies today face the choice of embracing the digital Mastodon or face the fate of the analog Mastodon." (Mastodon over Mammon - Towards publicly owned scholarly knowledge | Zenodo -- see Tuesday for more).
