folk, filk, folk rock, and a very small number of rock bands that were popular in the 1960's; mainly the Beatles and the Grateful Dead.

Nope. I think my older daughter chaoswolf was recently introduced to Led Zeppelin by one of her friends, but I haven't heard the CDs myself. Might possibly recognize a song or two of theirs if I heard it.

During the '60s and '70s I listened to (acoustic) folk and classical almost exclusively. Rock tended to be too loud, and one couldn't make out the lyrics (which tended to be uninteresting anyway).

Granted, you're a bit older than I am, but that's not what I've noticed about the rock from that era.

Actually, I wasn't even listening to the Beatles or the Dead at the time, except what I couldn't avoid overhearing; my taste has gotten a little more eclectic over the years. The only thing I noticed about rock in the '60s and '70s was that I didn't like what little I heard of it.

The one group or performer from that list that I have a recording of is Rush.

Bah! They don’t mention Tangerine Dream or Jean-Michel Jarre. Neither Delerium nor Enigma rates a mention. The Orb and William Orbit are entirely off their radar. The creators of that test are obviously living in a very small corner of the world of music.

There are some obvious omissions on this list, too, like the Rolling Stones, U-2, any of the Jefferson incarnations (Airplane, Starship, etc.), Jethro Tull, Queen, etc. And somehow, I can't buy into someone arguing they're not rock-y enough.

On the other hand, I've heard of most of these. Heck, I've HEARD most of them. I just didn't think much of them. (Let's not even get into a former boyfriend who made me listen to Anthrax and Megadeth.) I even have a couple tapes I inherited from friends...in a box, somewhere. Rush, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyde, Van Halen, Beastie Boys...but I don't play them.

On the other hand, I actually own and listen to some U-2, Tull, etc. But they're not on the list.
