Network status at theStarport
2005-06-14 12:30 amWell, things are back up at least to the point where mail gets delivered, the web server works as it did, and users can log in. Whee!
Spamassassin, on the other hand, does not appear to be working completely -- looks like it's recognizing spam ok, but it's not marking it in the headers. Sorry about that. Should be a trivial fix tomorrow.
There are a couple of fairly major problems: booting requires manual intervention because something is seriously broken in the device probing -- the SCSI and network interfaces aren't being recognized.(fixed by an entry in modules.conf) DNS is broken because of some stupid dependency problem -- luckily I'd set up a secondary DNS server on the gateway.(fixed by removing libisccc0)Remind me not to update the gateway until it's fixed.
Let's see... ssh isn't configured to my liking yet.(done) Windows filesharing and printing aren't configured at all. It's not hardened yet. Wireless is still offline, and the PC in the office needs to have its Windows partition nuked.(disabled in boot menu) There's a huge pile of apps that still have to be reinstalled (luckily that's a one-liner, after I go through the list I made just before shutting down the old one, and prune the stuff that shouldn't be on there in the first place).
On the plus side, only half of the half-gig of RAM is in use on the upgraded main server, and the load is barely noticable (0.02 last time I looked).
