2005-06-16 12:11 amOK, the wireless router appears to be up. Stupid config pages can't be navigated using Lynx; had to fire up Firefox on an ageing laptop with a too-small screen. Foo. I'm blocking outgoing SMTP. What I really want to do is block everything except for a few selected ports, but the default s/w doesn't give me that option. Luckily it's a Linux box (Linksys WRT54G) under the hood, and there are alternative distributions available.
I left it inside the firewall for the moment, being too lazy to set up a hub on the outside. When I get the new gateway configured I'll use its DMZ interface. In any case, it's all NAT'ed and filtered, which will prevent the worst of the attacks.
About the only things left are UPS and system monitoring, configuring the printing, setting up the new gateway, and stuffing the whole lot back in the rack.
