Having fun, though I fear that, since we'll have to leave between noon and 2pm tomorrow, the con will be much too short.
Noodled on guitar in the lobby for an hour or so. People started arriving somewhere around 1:30, and the con suite was just getting set up around 4pm. The
flower_cat managed to snag Blars as my "intrepid local guide" for picking up
cflute at LAX. At 5:30, in LA's rush hour traffic. Registration hadn't even been set up by 4:30 when we started out. Blars drove, thank goodness, in our minivan, and got us there abont 5:15. He then orbitted the van while I went in to meet
cflute and we both waited interminably for her luggage. Got back around 7:30.
Registered (
flower_cat and
chaoswolf had already picked up their badges, but hadn't paid for them yet), spent a few minutes at the poolside reception, and went down to dinner with the Cat. We got a window table, and saw Blars and Callie arriving at the reception. The Cat invited them to dinner, of course.
By the time we'd finished dinner there was nothing left of the evening programming but the bawdy circle, which I wasn't especially interested in, so a few of us started what was eventually dubbed the "antibawdy" circle across the hall. A good time was had by all; including me doing "Cicero in the Twenty-First Century" with Callie on flute.
I have a 1/2 hour concert slot at, um, 2:30 today. I wasn't sure because I hadn't been contacted by email as far as I can tell. Seemed to be a common problem here. Still haven't figured out what I'll be doing, but "Ship of Stone", "Cicero", "World Inside the Crystal", and "Silk and Steel" are definitely on the list.
