mdlbear: portrait of me holding a guitar, by Kelly Freas (freas)

Saturday at ConChord was a very full day. Managed to get in some practice time with [livejournal.com profile] cflute, though we never did get to "Demon Lover".

My concert was at 2:30; since it was after the slot the Kazoo Awards were originally scheduled for (they were moved to Sunday because the voting closed Saturday night and nobody had thought to bring a time machine), there was time for a good sound check. Discovered, unfortunately during the concert, that enabling the built-in tuner on my guitar disables the preamp. Grump. That means that any set that includes "Silk and Steel" requires either re-tuning by ear in both directions, a separate tuner, or a mic on the guitar. Problem is, the built-in doesn't seem to have an "off" button; it just times out after what it thinks is enough time. Seemed to go over pretty well, though, on the whole.

The main concerts were wonderful -- Les Barker (poetry, not song; cheerfully demented little gems that had most of the audience doubled up with laughter), Martin and Andrea Gordon-Kerr (the Interfilk guests, with a wide range of instruments including clarinet, bass guitar, and two keyboards), the amazing Joe Bethancourt, and finally the GoH, Three Weird Sisters (plus two husbands, who presumably are the Weird Brothers-in-law). It was all over much too quickly.

Sunday had programming down to 4pm, but we left a little after 1pm, after snagging a couple of Interfilk auction items in the silent auction. I didn't get to much of the morning programming except for the Kazoo awards (I had a song in the running, but it was in the same category as "Mary O'Meara", which predictably won).

Your "Demon Lover" page doesn't appear to be under CVS control yet -- $Id$ is still at the bottom, in bold.
