The end of a busy day
2005-11-06 11:07 pm Clearing out the office was a much harder job than I had
originally estimated, but it's done. Or a reasonable facsimile thereof.
There's still a significant pile of spaghetti cable, plus a
keyboard, in the corner where my computer was. I ultimately decided,
correctly I think, not to take out the whole long arm of the counter but
to cut it even with the edge of the window (that extends almost
into the corner). I used a thin-bladed pullsaw, and it worked pretty
well. There were a couple of screws in the bracing where I wasn't
expecting them (I put it together pretty solidly), but it's out.
Total: 29 file boxes, plus 5 or 6 destined for cold storage in the attic. Plus a shelf full of "desktop clutter" that's either actually necessary or urgently needing to be sorted. I think I need to clean out under the kitchen sink and put away the dishes (the dishwasher will be disconnected for the duration); maybe I can do that tomorrow. And I probably ought to disassemble the CD rack.
Did I mention that I'm tired?
Oh, and it looks like something is wrong, or going wrong, with my backup drive -- there were some I/O errors this morning. Need to work out a remote backup scheme for the important stuff.
