Came home to a large Priority Mail box on my mail stack that turned out to be from the San Francisco Postal Inspector's office. Turned out to be a pile of our mail that was "found on the porch of a customer on Baroni Drive in San Jose". (Never mind that according to Google Maps it's supposed to be Baroni Avenue. There's also apparently no number 343 there, so forget about mistaken delivery. ) It was apparently stolen out of our mailbox sometime last week, and of course had all been opened. The two CDs I'd ordered from Wake the Dead were still there, but the T-shirt I'd ordered for [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf from the The H.P.Lovecraft Historical Society was missing (the libretto for Shuggoth on the Roof was still in the envelope).

Of course, there's no telling what else might have been taken in that batch. I don't think I have any bills missing, but there might have been a credit card offer or loan offer, so identity theft is a distinct possibility.

It also doesn't help that the cover letter instructs me to fill in and return the Mail Theft Form that was not on the back of the letter, nor anywhere else in the box.

The Bear is not a happy animal at the moment.

Contact your Postmaster by telephone on Monday. Follow up with U.S. Postal Inspector... You may have to think about a locked mailbox... Sorry!!
