Yesterday afternoon I ordered an EPIA 5000 fanless mini-ITX motherboard, and a Morex Cubid 2699 case from the DSL Store. They're a bit more expensive than some of the other online stores that specialize in Mini-ITX stuff, but it's in a good cause: Damn Small Linux. The plan is to build a totally silent X terminal for my recording rig. (I discovered a while ago that the almost-fanless 800MHz board I'm using for the actual recording drops samples if you try to run X on it at the same time. If you use a separate X terminal for a display, it works fine. I'm currently using a laptop, but it takes up too much table space and has a fan that's distractingly loud even though it's (mostly by luck) located just about at the null point of both microphones' patterns.
Coincidentally, Fry's had 128MB USB pen drives for $9 today. Plenty of space for DSL.
