It was a day for puttering around. Went out for a walk, but it started raining so I went to Guitar Showcase and Fry's instead (I'd meant to go after the walk). By the time I was done in Fry's the rain had stopped, but I was hungry and came home to have lunch instead. And there I stayed, puttering around. Eventually the [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat and [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf came back from their [livejournal.com profile] baycon meeting bearing a bag of cracked crab for my (one-day-early) birthday dinner. Yum!

Guitar Showcase yielded a nice little folding music stand -- all metal construction (where it counts, anyway) with a carrying case. And it's purple making it easy to spot when I leave it on stage for the next performer. Also a quick-release mic stand that lets you adjust the height with one hand. Exactly what I've been needing for the guitar mic; marked down about 30% to $69.

Fry's had Netgear 5-port gigabit ethernet switches for $69, so I got one for the rack, along with a couple of Cat-6 patch cables. No, it's not clear why I need all that bandwidth between the router and the fileserver, but it will reduce congestion on the main switch. I may add my main workstation to the mix.

All in all a fairly relaxing day, which I suspect I needed more than I realized. Oh, yes -- the Cat went down to the local appliance store, which was having a sale, and bought a freezer. It gets installed Tuesday.
