Dead cow

Our new freezer now contains about 250 pounds of dead cow (a hind quarter) in addition to what it had in it yesterday. It occupies the bottom two drawers, and a couple of shelves on the door. Considerably smaller than I expected, actually -- it came in two long cardboard boxes. It was more like 350lbs before being dressed (more like un dressed, I should think).

Do you keep opening the freezer and looking at it? I did. *g*

We still have about half the quarter cow we got last fall. I expect we'll be eating it right up until we get this year's cow. Mind you, there's only two of us.

Mostly, only when I want to get some ice cream. There are four of us, but I expect it'll last for quite a while nonetheless.

In college, I had a friend whose dad had a ranch. They had three chest freezers in the barn. Each one contained, essentially, a whole cow, from steaks to organ meats to hamburger. Cow would leave ranch, go to place where it became packages for the freezer. ;-) It was pretty impressive, but it certainly inspired a lot of beef consumption!

Для меня все эти и многие другие нюансы остаются неразрешимой загадкой. также интересны шкафы купе. в каком случае выбор шкафа купе будет куда целесообразнее, чем покупка простого шкафа? мы хотим услышать мнение людей, которые купили шкаф и могли бы дать какой-то совет.
