There's probably a reason why the longest warranty we could get for our Ford van was 8 years/80K miles. That's approximately how old our old Mercury van was. My Honda, on the other hand, is warranted for 10 years/100K miles; the last one croaked at about 160K.

My 1989 Accord is still going strong. It developed a few minor ailments that have needed attending, but it gets 30+ MPG.

I vowed to never buy a car that gets fewer MPG than my current one. Until hybrids, there were no contenders, and I held out for the longest time for electrics but that technology has pretty much dead-ended.

Yeah... I've had my Honda Civic (hybrid!) for a little over 3 years now... it runs like a dream, and requires less regular maintenance than my Saturn did! We're currently getting about 45 mpg, which is niiiiiiiice....
