Yesterday my oldest daughter, [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf, came home from a sleepover birthday at a friend's house and announced that she was changing her mundane nickname from "Katy" to "Kat". (She is, of course, keeping "Chaos" in fandom.)

Fine with me -- it's about time she picked her own nickname. But it does complicate things, because my wife, the [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat, tends to go by "Cat" for short. And the 11-year-old refers to herself as a "kitty-cat", though it doesn't have the status of a nickname (yet).

Well, I guess causing Chaos is what she's good at...

I understand that it doesn't help, but like I said: we can call [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat either MamaCat or Flowers, if all else fails. As for Emmy, well....it does have the status of "nickname" in her mind only. She's got her nickname: Emmergizer Bunny or PITA. Haven't figured out which one's more accurate. Later, Dad.

You've had years of experience in herding cats, I think you can handle this.

The number of people my friends out here and I know who can be accurately referred to as "Jen who is also (C|K)at" is truly terrifying. I'm pretty sure that we were up to five at one point...
