Spent most of my computer time today continuing the ongoing rationalization of my website, plus a little time starting to work out setlists for my concert and kids' singalong at Baycon in (*urk!*) six days.

Took the [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf out for a driving lesson. It was not particularly successful; I'm not a professional driving instructor who knows exactly what to say and doesn't get flustered or tongue-tied, and don't have a dual-control car. Either of which would have kept us out of trouble. Fortunately the juniper bush was a kinder, gentler bush; there was no damage on either side. But we decided she needs professional lessons first.

Since the Wolfling's old Fujitsu laptop is dying (bad disk, bad CPU fan, and forgotten BIOS password), our next stop was Fry's. Found a line of compact HP systems -- very cute, quiet little Pentium M boxen. Came home and did a little comparison shopping; I'll pick one up for her tomorrow while she and the [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat are at the Baycon meeting.

Hrmm...indeed...no injuries and no damage...that's good ^^;;

Ouch....I heard about her laptop...didn't think it was that bad.
BIOS password, would think removing the coin battery would do it (I think laptops utilize those too? Haven't opened up a laptop in a while)
But at the rate of the failures...prolly indeed a new system may be better off x_X

Good luck on the shopping =)

I tried to learn to drive from my father

It was such a disaster (without hitting anything) that I didn't drive with him in the car until I was over 30.

I was lucky. My school had driver's Education which included practical driving. The one problem I had was Dad taught to drive a stickshift. Talk about gear grinding... It came out well in the end.
