We just made sure that Jenevieve had the second phone line. When we needed to, all we did was call the second line. She would always answer her phone. Worked like a charm. :)

I bought Vicky a cell phone a few months before she moved out (she's currently living in an apartment with a small flock of roommates). It still has a tendancy to be turned off or mislaid when I really need to contact her, but it does help. The flock of roommates includes her boyfriend, so I can always call him if I can't reach her, assuming he hasn't turned off or mislaid his cell phone, anyway... :/
