The rainy season has definitely started; I drove home in the rain yesterday. And jilara asked me to sing ''Millennium's Dawn'' last night -- the irony of

Oh I should have been watching the earthrise
From a dome on the bright lunar plain
But I took a wrong turn at the '60s
now I'm driving back home in the rain

was not lost on me. But the sky is a soft grey, the air is clean, and the mist mutes the sounds of traffic a little. I like the rain, for the most part.

Actually, things took a wrong turn in 1972 or thereabouts, when Agnew killed the space program and replaced it with that Morton Thiokol-powered abomination that's killed 14 of our good people...

As for rain, y'all are getting our share this year; El Niño is on...

Doesn't scan. And one could easily argue on an alternate-history basis that the death of the space program goes back to our involvement in Vietnam in the '60s, which drained NASA's budget and diverted national attention away from space. But I diverge.
