mdlbear: portrait of me holding a guitar, by Kelly Freas (freas)

The 2006 Pegasus Award winners have been announced. I voted with the majority on three out of six this year, which is an unusually high percentage for me. My three non-winners were "A Thousand Ships", "Ship of Stone", and "No Quarter". I was particularly pleased to see Cynthia McQuillin win for Best Writer/Composer, and particularly unhappy to see "Ship of Stone" not win Best Classic Filk Song. Next year. (\me shakes fist defiantly at the sky)

Thanks for the info. I share your opinion that "Ship of Stone" is one of the greatest filk songs ever written. Now that all the voters are familiar with it, it may have a leg up for next year.

It's ironic that even though I'm at the con, I first learned the complete Pegasus results here. I wasn't at the banquet because (a) I needed to finish writing my song contest song, (b) I didn't think I would be able to enjoy the awards because of my concern about the 2-on, 1-off rule, and (c) the tickets were sold out.

I should add that after talking to several members of the Pegasus committee about why they instituted the 2-on, 1-off rule, I now feel much better about it. It's probably not exactly what I would have done, but I understand the motivation for the new rule.
