So far I'm having a great time. Had dinner last night with the [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat (plus [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf's GF Mayhem, who is diabetic and has to be reminded to eat at reasonably regular intervals) and harpist Moira Stern, whose concert later in the evening was excellent (and rather sparsely attended -- whatever happened to people's sense of curiosity? You'd think that MZB's daughter would draw a bigger crowd at an SF con.).
The parties were pretty much of a bust.
The open filk, on the other hand, was fantastic. Not a big crowd, but wonderful voices and great songs. Callie Hills (of Echo's Children) did a very good cover of my song The Programmer's Alphabet; the melody has shifted a little in the filk process, and the RAM "that we used to call core" became "of which we need more". Could I be getting old?

Perhaps actual MZB fans (which I am not, not having read significant amounts of her writing) would recognize her daughter's name, but I wouldn't/didn't/don't.

That, and the name change has thrown folks off.

More important, though, is what she's done on her own. The filk concerts at Baycon, although listed in the pocket program (yay [livejournal.com profile] kierin!), seemed to mostly be publicized via word of mouth.
