Quiet evening at home.

Yesterday evening after dinner I noticed that the flower_cat was "all people'd out" and close to tears. So I suggested that we sit on the couch and snuggle. Need to do that more often. Need to figure out some way of making the couch more comfortable -- after about 45 minutes her back started complaining.

Just for tracking purposes, I did manage to take a 55-minute walk yesterday at lunchtime -- it was raining when I got to work, but had mostly cleared by 12:30.

Also for tracking purposes, I'm now trying to do something on one or more of my albums every day. This will had better continue until at least the beginning of February. Monday I made my reservations for GAFilk; yesterday I figured out what I want for disk art made a broad outline of the insert text, and posted a poll to find out what people want on the bonus disk.

Snuggling

You get all kinds of credit for figuring out she needed a snuggle without her having to ask for it. I usually have to tell Patrick, "I need some physical contact. Pretend I am a cat." Patrick historically has had more cats than wives so he usually gets it when I say that. I also think it is healthy to announce it when you need attention. Most guys can't read the minds or their wives or girlfriends, nerds don't even have the basic body language hard wiring. So if you need something, ask for it. Then if you don't get it, you can complain. I hope flower cat is feeling better.

Oh, probably the only way to fix an uncomfortable couch is to replace it or have it reupholstered. Have you got flower cat a Yule gift yet? A new comfy couch would make a really good present.

I don't read minds very well either, which is why this particular incident was postworthy. Announcing what you need is always better, but I don't think Colleen really knew what she needed until I asked.

This particular couch is home-made and would be hard (impossible?) to replace; mostly it just needs a different arrangement of back-support cushions.

You're right, sometimes we don't know what we need well enough to even ask. Mind reading can come in handy at times like that. Sometimes after enough years of being with someone you can learn to read their moods. Obviously this is the case with you and Flower Cat even when you think you aren't good at it.

Back support cushions are divine. Right now we have an elegant old sofa in the living room that actually belongs to Elizabeth, who will take it with her when she moves out sometime this coming spring. The darn thing is nearly sixty years old and is lovely to look at but not very comfortable. I'm looking forward to replacing it with something I can sit in without having a backache.

Hmm, that's odd. I just tried it again, and it worked this time. Before, I got a message about "This is not a valid Live Journal link." I'm wondering if they had system problems (again).

I figured that was probably where it pointed to, but was bemused that it didn't work.
