The most common password these days is no longer "password". It's "password1". At least on Myspace. Who says users haven't learned anything. (The second and third most common are "abc123" and "myspace1" respectively.)

The same article notes that a recent study of corporate employees shows their passwords to be better than they were 15 years ago, but not as good as Myspace users.

My problems with my corporate passwords is that I need three (general, payroll, and the email filter site), they have to be changed every 70 days, and since they won't let me use dictionary words, they have to be precisely 7 or 8 characters wrong, and must contain a number and special character, I've run out of clever alternatives (like bad puns in Swedish), and have started using things similar to 5678abc (which it will take, btw), or else writing them down. Oh yeah, our system won't let you reuse components, either. So if you have a really good, totally obscure password, you can never use it again, after your 70 days are up. Back to 5678abc variations... It seems like they really TRY to outsmart themselves, and to make us end up writing all the stuff down.

Wow, was that a freudian slip. 7-8 characters long, I meant.
