Babbage's Birthday so far

Wrote some checks, went to the Post Office, took my walk -- acutally got in a whole hour in spite of the distinct possibility of rain -- and went to the bank. Then attempted to find a parking space for the Container Store. No luck. Sorry, the parking force is very weak with this one.

I will spend most of the afternoon atoning for a year's worth of procrastination by sorting through the charity solicitation letters. The last few years I've ended up making most of my donations in the last few days -- sometimes the last few hours -- of the year. Since the First is a Monday this year I could presumably cheat and backdate a few checks if I had to.

I'll probably alternate between sorting and working on fun stuff like putting away the dishes.

I went through the donations stuff yesterday. Pleasant actual Jesus way to spend christmas, and I'm not even Christian! Anypath, I had a reasonable rule, they needed to be able to be paid by website, since I wasn't in the mood to write checks. Well, you know, that's just about everyone these days so I clicked and paid and with a few days to spare. The job is done. Donation letters are actually generated on the website, so litterally EVERYTHING is done and filed. The IRS would be proud.
PS - I so rarely write checks any more my checkbook is getting lonely.

If it's anything like setting up payments on Union Bank's website, I think I'd rather write a check. Even counting the data-entry later to get it into TaxCut.

Besides which, if it's Microsoft software, I wouldn't be able to use it anyway.
