KR: (remarking on my 60th birthday) So are you starting a senior citizens' group?
me: Heck no, I'm starting a band!

I'm pretty sure now that I want to put our live performance of "High Barratry" (available here) on the CD. There's some good audience reaction, and the CD needs a little more variety.

Now, that's the way to celebrate one's 60th....

I think I'm starting a commune for my 40th... which is likely to have a house band of its own, or at least a madrigal group or something....

([livejournal.com profile] cflute and LJ-less L were really kicking it last night on such things as "Grey Selkie" and "Sing Coo Coo" (dunno if that last title is right)....)

Hee hee hee! Um, [livejournal.com profile] technoshaman, the song you're referring to would be Sumer Is Icumen In, one of the oldest surviving rounds...

And frankly I thought our best number was Song of Sherwood, though Grey Selchie went reasonably well.

It was a good night, musically. And it felt really good to be back into music-making.

Not making music for almost two weeks, really, since I haven't done anything particularly musical since Consonance. And working with L is somewhat reminiscent of working with [livejournal.com profile] catsittingstill, since it's a femme duo with someone who is a seasoned vocalist and guitarist. Just a different (so far, more Trad(tm)) repertoire, which in itself is nice to get (back) into.

I hope that music will indeed break out at the Starport for tomorrow's party! Lots of well-wishes from us kids up north. :)
