Friday late afternoon (i.e., after my walk and some lunch) I went to Kathy Mar's summer bash (she has two of these every year--basically all-weekend parties). The kids had friends over and Colleen wanted to stay in her air-conditioned cave (can't really blame her), so I went alone. Around 10pm, as I was starting to think about leaving, the filking started. I sang two, For Amy (written last week) and Millennium's Dawn; For Amy was well-received.

Yesterday we all went to San Francisco for the Lamplighters' production of Pirates of Penzance. Not, perhaps, the best Pirates I've ever seen (the choreography was a bit uninspired), but the singing at least was up to the usual Lamplighters' standard (world-class, in other words), and Mabel (Jennifer Ashworth) in particular was excellent.

Came home and basically collapsed, but not until after my gaze came to rest on our copy of Name of the Rose, so large chunks of my otherwise-free time will be gone until I finish it again.

That's beautiful, Steve; I hadn't seen it before, and it's beautiful.

Thank you for sharing it.
