Gave CC&S another listen in the car yesterday -- it's actually at the point where I can do that and not cringe at anything. Tweaks on "Paper Pings", "Someplace in the Net", "Demon Lover", "Someplace in the Net".

I have serious questions about including "Stuck Here..." -- it's more of a space song than a computer song, and it's the only song on the album with even mild profanity (which might keep me out of some markets). Suggestions needed, and I'm still soliciting advice on track order. (current list here)

Now I'm going to snag some breakfast before the ravening hordes arrive.

(1201 I think I'll move "Uncle Ernie's" down after "TEOTW..." -- improves the speed, key, and time-signature balance.)

If you drop 'Stuck Here...', what will you be replacing it with?

Probably nothing -- I think the CD's probably long enough without it.

Will 'Stuck Here...' appear on a future CD if not used on this one?

If so, and there are copies of others performing it out there, it not as critical as putting some of the other songs that are only available on tape on the CD.

A suggestion.. Move it to the bonus CD for those of us who pre-ordered, so your work is not wasted.

It was recorded by Frank Hayes on "The Funniest Computer Songs" (tape).

It may very well end up on the planned space CD, Hackers' Heaven, along with "Bound for Hackers' Heaven" which was also originally scheduled for CC&S.

The bonus CD is indeed a possibility. Meanwhile there appears to be at least one version on the Web -- see the index.

Both of which are very out of print. (Finally got a copy of FreeFall and Other Delights last week.)

I thought that I have heard another recording, but it must have been the web download.

I like "Stuck Here." I think you should keep it. Sure, there's a couple of "damn"s in it, but I'm having trouble imagining any market it would be inappropriate for on that account except perhaps Christian. And, frankly, I don't think the Christian music market would be interested in filk anyway.

I hope you'll keep it. If you don't, can I persuade you to burn it to a CD for me when you send out my preorder? Pretty please? I promise I won't play it for anyone who might be offended.

On reconsideration, I think it'll stay. It may even be more appropriate for CC&S than it would be for Hackers' Heaven, now that I think about it. I was thinking about the kids' market, but it's pretty mild compared to what kids are listening to these days.

But in any case, you're welcome to listen to the current mixes (and comments would be welcome!) at thestarport.com/coffee and thestarport.com/bleeding (the URLs will be printed on the CDs). The .mp3's are about 2/3 the size of the .ogg's, though they're lower quality.
