Even as I type, the CD artwork for About Bleeding Time is wending its way through the bowels of ProAction Media on a chair in my office on its way to a rendezvous with me and my housefull of CD burners and fanatical minions on Monday. I will have disks to hand out at Baycon! This makes me a happy fractal bear, but it does mean that I'm going to be a bit busy during the coming 10 4 days.

To do:

• Done 5/21 Finalize CDROM content for ABT: make sure the correct license boilerplate (LGPL for software, CC-by-sa-nc for audio and text) is there in the right places. (5/17 tracked down boilermaker.pl) (5/19 tracked down CC link; composed boilerplate inserts.) (5/20 done for software in Tools. Added \CcByNcSa macro to song.sty; ready for mass edit on .flk files.) (5/21 did songs. Just need final check, plus the fiction and HTML.)
• Done 5/15 Finalize audio content: even out the track levels. This should be just a simple matter of bringing down the levels on applause segments and maybe another couple of loud passages, and renormalizing. (5/17 fixed ringing in the Consonance recordings)
• (5/16: k3b works) See whether the Samsung drive I bought at Fry's on Sunday is willing to master a two-session (CD-Extra) disk for me using the software I already have on Linux. (doesn't help but it's a nice drive) If not, buy a copy of Nero Linux and see if that will do it. (flaky at default burn speeds. We'll see.) If not, fall back on a CD-ROM with audio tracks.
• 98 copies so far: 5/21. 22 spoiled. Compose a simple, one-page two-sided insert with the final track list. Print 100 copies. Buy a stack of sleeves slimline jewelboxes. (5/17 accurate times from the track files.) (5/19 written.) (5/20 draft done in glabels. Need to hack Created the templates for Avery 8693, Memorex 710. Slimline jewelboxes bought at Office Max on sale: 200 @ $0.15)
• 99 copies: 5/23 When the preprinted disks arrive start burning. Need at least 100 copies. Pay the kids to baby-sit the burner(s) if necessary. Could burn at work: bring in the directory.
• 5/24extract and print preorder number info. (only 4 numbers currently allocated, so not a big problem.)
• Send email to preorder customers. Implies creating the mailing list.
• Finalize Make a draft of the artwork for CC&S. (Note: selkit has Illustrator! Yay!) Print a handful of samples, burn and print sample disks, and assemble packaging. (Needed for display at panels, filk lounge, and parties.) (5/21 can get away with cover and tray card.)
• Compose "Pre-Release Party" and concert fliers. Print 20 copies. (added wait until we have a date & room #)
• (done 5/24 50 bus. cards, 50 mini-fliers; business card for the family.) Update the business-card-size preorder flier, print 100 or so copies. added print business cards!
• Set up hosting for hyperspace-express.com dreamhost
• Point the secret URL (printed on the album artwork) at the finalized (Album_Long_Name/X/) web pages. (They're updated automagically from the working directories, so there's very little actual work involved.)
• Practice for * Tres Gique concert, o kids' concert, and o circles. (There will be music at the Starport Wednesday and Thursday evenings.)
• Put together a portable recording rig. Pack. Go to con.
