No, I probably shouldn't be allowed to try singing harmony. Finally have a decent lead track for "Someplace in the Net", but the harmony isn't where I want it yet. (We're not even going to mention that annoying hesitation in the intro.)

Also recorded a fresh shaker part for "TEOTW" only to find that I still preferred the previous one. Three steps forward, two steps back, I think.

For the morbidly curious, here are sound files for "Net" [ogg] [mp3] and "TEOTW" [ogg] [mp3] in their current state. Opinions?

I think I'll stick a fork in "TEOTW", and see what I can do with "Net" again tomorrow. I may try guitar for a couple of harmony parts -- I can tune my guitar.

And I have to come up with a setlist for the Tres Gique gig at Westercon, which is coming up in (urk!) two weeks! We won't have cflute, but we'll have Joyce and Jordan. It'll be good. 10pm Saturday after Alexander James, so we might actually have an audience (if they don't all leave).

General note: I will not be taking preorders for any future albums until they're actually in duplication. I was stupid this time.

Thanks. I think the main problem with preorders was that they were a major distraction -- it was always easier to work on the bonus disk and the website than on the actual album, and the time could have been better used working on CC&S.

(The flip side is that if I hadn't done all that, including setting up my PayPal account and the preorder form and the website, I'd be trying to cram it all in during the last couple of weeks between sending the album to the duplicators and getting it back.)

I can understand that feeling.... How hard is it to setup a paypal link from a web site?? I have a CD that will be published within the next month or so... Just payed the last filker for music rights. (And a habit with filkers is that I am going to pay for more copies than I print. HarryFox Agency will only get what I need at the time.)

I have to sit down and update the web page ONCE I get the cover finished... (Hopefully this week, before Conterpoint.)

It's basically trivial -- you enter the data on the PayPal site and it gives you the HTML to paste in. You can either set up a "Buy Now" link, or a shopping cart.

Just listened to the ogg files... TEOTW sounded good on my macbook. Not so sure about net. I want to listen to it on a different machine before making a comment.

"Net" is definitely unfinished -- I'm not at all happy with my attempt at harmony.
