chaoswolf, Mayhem, and a friend of chaoswolf's who I believe they have dubbed ``Mischief'' -- collectively they're calling themselves ``the daughters of discord'') to the second annual Linux anniversary picnic. Never turn down free food when there are three teenagers in the house.
The kids, of course, got bored pretty quickly; we arrived around 11am and left about 3:30. I, of course, could have stayed all day. Colleen spent the time needlepointing and talking.
Not as many people as last year, and many are out of work. As good as Linux is for the users, it's not all that good for the ``linux companies'' that burst on the scene at the height of the bubble and have now splattered their contents all over the Valley. Being in a research lab associated with a large non-computer manufacturing company (meaning they make and sell real stuff made of atoms) I'm somewhat insulated, but I'm one of the lucky ones.
