One might think that Microsoft designs their software specifically and primarily as a vehicle for advertising, spyware, viruses, unremovable toolbars, and other malware. One would almost certainly be right in so thinking.
(Pointers to most of the available extermination software can be found at spywareinfo.com. I can personally vouch for the moderate effectiveness of Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-aware -- neither was able to detect and remove both of the added toolbars, but they did find whatever was making them visible, resetting the home page, and popping up the porn ads.)
