mdlbearJust had a look at Janis Ian's article on festivals -- should be required reading not only for anyone in the folk music scene, but for anyone contemplating putting on a filk convention.
Obviously, there are many differences between a 5000-person folk festival and a 150-person filkcon, but there are also enough similarities to make it well worth a read, especially the parts about workshops and "For artists" (near the end). Unfortunately there are no name anchors, making it impossible to link directly to sections.
There's a lot of other good stuff on JanisIan.com, including her article on The Internet Debacle and a couple of Worldcon trip reports.
