Grumble. Why is it...
2003-08-24 05:38 pm...that whenever I really need something, it turns out that it's no longer being made? Styles of clothing that ought to be timeless go out of style; superior technologies are displaced by superior marketing; appliances that are still more efficient than their competition go out of production.

This particular case in point is gas ovens. Gas is more efficient (i.e., cheaper to use) than electricity, and more reliable in this era of rolling blackouts and massive regional power failures. By far the most common size for a wall-mounted oven is 27" -- so why can't we find one in gas? There are, apparently, about three different models available in 24" (the size we have now). We were really hoping for something a little bigger.
Our old oven, the door hinges of which are quickly grinding themselves to bits, is made by a company that no longer seems to be in business. Probably for good and sufficient reasons. But it would have been nice to find an alternative.
