I find it perversely amusing to see how much of the clutter I'm currently dealing with consists of boxes for things I didn't have to return before their warranties expired, multiple years ago.

What's the ratio of "Boxes for things I no longer own" to "Boxes for things I do still own"?

Quite low: in order for me to "no longer own" something, I'd have to have thrown it away (or recycled it). Which doesn't happen all that often.

I was asked by Leonard once where all the boxes for my various electronics were stored. At the time I lived in a two bedroom townhouse with two closets, and a tiny storage area off my patio which was about the size of a cramped shower stall. I gave him a puzzled look and gave the only reasonable and truthful response. "The landfill?" We both spent several moments, each wallowing in our own personal horror before tactfully changing the subject. Geeks, you just gotta love em', and thank goddess most of them are blessed with garages or make enough money to afford storage units.
