Getting a static web site organized with git | LinuxWorld Community

Yes, I still end up maintaining some static web sites. I've started doing them under git revision control, just to be safe, and because "git push origin" is just as easy as rsync anyway. Here's a rough cut at a system for keeping these things organized.

Not as directly useful to me as it would be if I wasn't already syncing my entire web-related directory tree up to a large external hosting site for backup.

Are you using hooks to deploy? I'd like to get a "git for people who aren't necessarily kernel hackers" BoF organized for LinuxWorld.

Sounds good! I'm not using git on a regular basis yet, but I will by then. Currently there's only me working on the tree; I'm getting by with CVS for version control and a combination of makefiles, rsync, and cron jobs for deployment. Over the next couple of months, though, I'm going to be setting up some websites for collaboration; at that point git will become essential.
