I'm struggling to see the advantage over a regular pair of chopsticks. Easier to.. get crud stuck to the handle? Or for your food to go flying when the hinge gets loose? You could always drill out holes from wooden chopsticks if the excruciating weight was too much to bear. Or heck, don't pack anything and just whittle the ends of some sticks while you wait for your campfire to get hot enough to cook dinner. Admittedly I'm the kind of person who brings along an old tin can to cook in, so I am perhaps not the target audience. :)

These are incredibly expensive though... $21(!)? I have a pair of metal chopsticks from Taiwan which are collapsible (like one of those pull out pointers), and I'm sure it's not as expensive as these are.
