We're serious this time, people. No more kidding around with those international ship dates, we've got ourselves a real live release date from Asus: May 12th. The hotly-anticipated Eee PC 900 with that relatively bountiful 8.9-inch screen is going to sell for a starting price of $549, with Linux and XP versions available at launch.Well, it's nearly twice the price of the current low-end versions, but...

Though many are refurbs and/or 2-5 year old models coming out of warehouses. Which makes their batteries suspect.

Date: 2008-04-22 03:29 am (UTC)The next next model with the intel atom sounds more promising - they should be able to squeeze better battery life out of it, anyway. Whether the price will be low enough to appeal is a mystery of course.
I should know better than to read about updates to things I just bought anyway; that way lies only irrelevent heartbreak. There's always something newer and faster and cheaper as soon as you walk out of the store, but heck, my little eee with the tiny screen is still totally delightful & adequate to my needs.
