mdlbear: portrait of me holding a guitar, by Kelly Freas (freas)

Went to Dave and Joyce's for a Tres Gique rehearsal tonight, with the [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf and [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat in tow. Yes, Tres Gique has two drummers: Kat and Jordan. Kat does occasional vocals. Not every gig, of course.

1 High Barratry (2:45) Definitely a good opener: solid, up-tempo, funny, and something of a throw-away.
2 The World Inside the Crystal (2:15) Gotta do this one.
3 The River (4:00) The new one.
4 The Stuff that Dreams are Made Of (4:45)
5 The Toolmakers (3:06) Kat's favorite. It's one I wrote a longish time ago; people felt it was time to revive it. Note for sound check: loudest guiter strumming in the set.
6 The Owl and the Pussycat (1:54)
7 Ferret Went A-Courtin' (4:41) The other new one. Might have made a good opener except that
8 The Merry Man and his Maid (3:40) One of my favorite Gilbert and Sullivan duets.
9 House Carpenter (4:40) a Child ballad, but it leads naturally into...
10 Demon Lover (4:05)
11 Vanguard Rambling Silver Rose Maybe. Not sure we'll have time to work this one up; it depends on how much rehearsal time we need with it, and how much we get. 04-28: Vanguard's not ready; we're solid on this one.
12 Keep the Dream Alive (4:18) A rousing finale...
13 Ship of Stone (4:00) .. but send them out thinking. Actually, this is the one to omit if we need the time, but I'd like to have it there.

This may actually be something resembling the final order -- certainly the first two or three and the last two -- except that we need to move "Merryman" earlier to get it away from "House Carpenter".

Getting there, but I'm sleepy. Possibly an effect of the Zyrtec I took ~3:30pm to ensure that my throat didn't dry out. It didn't; but whether because of the zyrtec or the extra nose-watering is hard to tell. I'm not sure it was worth it; I was noticeably drowsy on parts of the drive home.

I really hope you don't have to omit "Ship of Stone." Not only is it a terrific song, but you do the best version of it that I've seen out there.
