Apparently anger at Gray Davis was a bigger factor than either party loyalty or common sense. I didn't like Davis much, either, but I don't see how giving a victory to the Republicans is going to help the situation.

At least, now he'll be the one in the hot seat, facing a hostile legislature and a budget deficit created mainly by Republican tax cuts. It'll be interesting to see how he handles it, and what the next budget battle looks like.
