Been fighting all day with the new EeePC 900 trying to make the bloody thing play streams from live365, which is the only thing Colleen listens to. No joy. Mplayer and the corresponding Firefox plugin play MP3's just fine; neither smplayer nor amarok will play live365. They work fine on the older one she's been using. Suggestions? (Ubuntu will be considered.)

Made the call to my aunt; she sounded resigned, tired, sad. Not surprising. Making the call was incredibly difficult. Not surprising; I don't like making calls even when they're happy ones.

I'm feeling tired and ill. Dinner didn't help much. Have a headache. Brain feels like it's made of mush. Will take my drugs and get some hugs. They won't help much, but any improvement will be welcome.

It was a pretty good day at work, but that didn't help much either.

Damned time machine. Rewind button is stuck.

I know so many people who have been having problems with computers over the past few days. Everyone in the boat throw a pity party kind of a feeling if that makes you feel any better on your frustration.

Ubuntu has if anything more problems playing media than xandros on the eee. (I don't have a 900, mind you.) I've got flash and most mp3 playback working now, but I still can't get my damn firefox mp3 plugin to work. Not that I'm sorry I installed it; I found the xandros interface kind of stifling and it's comforting to have ubuntu on all my machines. But it is a bit clunky.

All that said, I just tried it and managed to play a live365 station on ubuntu on my eee in Rhythmbox! It took a bit of fiddling, though - Rhythmbox won't seem to acknowledge being passed a file when you say "open with Rhythmbox" so I had to save the play.pls file and then manually import it. But it's playing. :)

What's particularly annoying is that it *works* on the older Eees (in Amarok).
