So when I get home, I'm met by a stern-faced delegation led by [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat, telling me that power in the kitchen (and therefore parts of the office, including the servers) has been off for an hour because the electric igniters on the (gas) cooktop had been "clicking", apparently due to water from a boiling-over pot getting into the circuitry. They powered it down at the breaker.

There were six adults in the house at the time. Why did none of them manage to think of simply unplugging the damned cooktop? Especially since they'd taken all of the pots off the shelf in the cabinet underneath it, leaving the plug and socket in plain sight. And called the local appliance repair place.

I then spent the next half-hour turning on various computers, including the gateway/router, while fielding annoyed complaints from somebody who couldn't get to Google and wouldn't take "I'm working on it" for an answer. There are probably still a couple of clocks that need resetting, too.

I'm not a system administrator, but I play one at home.
