Walk Score - map for my neighborhood.
What is Walk Score? We help people find houses and apartments in walkable neighborhoods. Walk Score shows you a map of what's nearby and calculates a Walk Score for any property. Living in a walkable neighborhood is good for the environment and good for your health.

. . . I feel kinda validated for always being grumpy about not being able to walk anywhere. My address gets 2o/1oo, and I personally consider it lower because a lot of the stuff they show as walkable no one walks to, you might get shot.

I got 78%, but I notice it's a bit out of date, with a bookstore now replaced by a wine bar, etc.

I wish I'd seen this

57. I'm pretty sure it's safe at night, if you don't count chances of mountain lions.

I got a 62/100, but I still don't trust my neighborhood at night. Not since the night I moved in and got attacked in the parking lot at my truck. And I was 10 feet from the building in the main parking lot with tons of lights. Maybe I would walk to Lincoln Ave if my hubby was here, and or if I knew my back wouldn't give me grief once I got to Lincoln & Pedro.

Hey moving over two blocks gets me 2 points. Borders at Santana Row is a good bookstore, but I wouldn't call that walking distance.
The Rose Garden Library luckily is, and Moose goes there a lot.
But we really do have most of the basics fairly close. Food, a drug store, restaurants, sandwich shops, and even a laundromat for those times when the home machine isn't enough.
