If I wake up after 4am, especially if there's something on my mind (and there's always something to worry about), I'm unlikely to get back to sleep.

I really wish that this meant that I can get by on less than 5 hours' sleep all the time. I don't think it means that; I'll probably be dozing at my desk all afternoon, and crash early.

Grumble. I could use the extra time.

I understand completely. My current job has me awake longer than I've been in years. As a lifelong insomniac who WAS in remission, this is an unwelcome development.

You too? My normal sleep pattern is to sleep for 3-4 hours, wake up, and doze back off. If there're head-hamsters running round & round [see Tom Smith's excellent song "Death To Hamsters!]], I might be unable to fall back asleep. Unfortunately I come from a long line of worrywarts. The 3-4 hours is just long enough to be able to stagger around more-or-less mobile for a few hours. Even an afternoon crash isn't particularly restful. That sort of thing is all right for a night or two at a con, but I've just had at least 3 consecutive ones. Right thought and feeling are eroded. It's being a zombie in a non-fun, non-[livejournal.com profile] cadhla-song way. Fortunately, I was able to get 5 straight hours last night & am now going back for more.

Here's to more and more restful sleep for everyone!
