Jesse Helms is dead!

Not to speak ill of the dead, or anything. Guess I'll just stop here.

I believe he died of complications due to all the black crud in his heart.

Say what you like, but the man had good timing to the end, dying on the 4th...

I took great comfort today in the knowledge that a great many stick-up-their-ass conservatives are nearing the age where while their Republican welfare residuals might keep them comfortable and pay for good medical care they have denied to so many other Americans over the course of their narrow-minded and selfish careers, they still can't buy off the grim reaper. It probably will come as a huge shock to them, but Death is bipartisan, and he doesn't take bribes. Of course that kind of sucks for them. Sometimes being rich and powerful and eternally and devistatingly hideously wrong just isn't enough. And then they are just as dead as the homeless vets who froze to death under bridges because the Republicans cut funding to the homeless shelters.

Isn't that a lovely latte drinking, bleeding heart liberal thought for the day?

Happy 4th, in a non-flag pin wearing kind of way!
