I don't think I know anyone in Portland anymore; they've all moved up to Seattle.

Give a call when you drop by--I know a few good restaurants, though they're not as cheap as Portland. Have you considered taking the train up to Seattle, BTW? There are only four of them a day, but they're very nice, if they fit your schedule.

I'll consider train for a future trip; this one's booked. And since Colleen is flying from San Jose on Friday and meeting me in the airport, it wouldn't have worked for this kind of visit anyway. How long is the train trip from Portland?

In Seattle, we'll be staying with cflute and household -- she's another Portland transplant.

Maybe we can get together, then--let me know. The train ride is three hours, and it's actually the quickest way between the cities most of the time--traffic slows the autos and check-in time slows air travel. There is checked baggage service (three railroad trunks per passenger!) at Portland, Tacoma, and Seattle.

Yah, we did hear, but Frank's been a good friend of ours any time this last 30 years, so whatever happened, don't blame him! He lives in Portland...

Definitely not blaming Frank, but I never knew him outside of filkdom, and so have been out of touch since things fell apart in that context.
