From this post by [livejournal.com profile] cadhla comes a link to 50 thoughts on writing in her writing journal. Good stuff; well worth a read if you're doing anything creative, either as work or as a hobby.

50 Thoughts on Writing

Fascinating stuff, but one of the main things (if not *the* main thing) this does to me or for me is remind me that I am simply no longer a writer. (My published work includes two stories in the Liavek shared-world series, one in Weird Tales, and two in Tales of the Unanticipated.) I am happy to read this, but it doesn't have anything to do with me any longer. Note: On a tangent, there have been numerous times over the years that I have explained to people quite carefully of the excellent reasons why I *have* to use a typewriter, not a computer, to write fiction. Without exception, these people have listened knowingly and responded by saying, "That's nonsense." Extra thanks to skzbrust, who never listened knowingly but as best I can tell, understood it quite well without needing the explanation. I think I would add this as number 51: If you know that a way of working, of finishing your work and making it salable, is exactly what works for you, don't let anybody call you a liar, particularly if even listening to that accusation makes you want to throw up your hands in despair and stop.

Thanks ever so much for re-posting this. I tried to get her added on my friends page to read this sort of stuff and she declined. :(
I do a little bit of writing (only finished one 60,000 work and a few short stories though- nothing on her scale [blush])and would like to eventually get something published so her insights as someone who got to contract level is very valuable to me.
Thanks again! (appreciative hug)
